MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Scott Walker is not running for governor.
The Republican who lost to Tony Evers in 2018 dropping the news in a weekend social media post.
“It doesn’t mean I’ll never run again. In fact, I’m actually a quarter century younger than Joe Biden. That means I’ve got plenty of time and I don’t need an auto pen. Looking ahead though, Tonette and I will do everything we can on our home here in Wisconsin to ensure that we elect a commonsense conservative as governor in next year’s election,” Walker said.
Walker’s announcement mainly promoted his ongoing work with Young America’s Foundation. He’s been president of that conservative youth organization since 2021.
Democratic Governor Tony Evers won’t be seeking a third term. Two Republicans, Washington County Executive Josh Schoeman and CEO and former Navy SEAL Bill Berrien were already running prior to Evers’ announcement last week.
