MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — High school graduates and those heading to college need to be careful of credit card offers.
Lisa Schiller with the Better Business Bureau says there are plenty of criminals who will send a phony application to young people.
“They’re often targeting college students, whether they’re newly recent grads or just starting out their freshman year or in between offers to apply for the first credit card attempting to students,” Schiller said.
Schiller says that could mean bogus applications meant to steal your personal information, but also cards with massive fees and payments.
If you are looking to get a credit card, contact your own trusted bank or credit union and go from there.
