As we get further into the summer concert and event season, it’s vital to be on the lookout for phony tickets. Wisconsin Better Business Bureau spokeswoman Lisa Schiller says one scam that might surprise you is people selling tickets to entirely made up concerts.
“Search online for the festival’s name. Ensure that the name advertised matches the website. Scammers often like to use names that sound similar to those of real festivals,” said Schiller.
This goes double if someone’s trying to sell you tickets to your favorite artist. Criminals are able to target big fans with fake tickets using information gathered from social media. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
