CUMBERLAND, Wis. (WJMC) — A woman and her two dogs were rescued after falling through thin ice on Beaver Dam Lake in Cumberland on Saturday morning.
Cumberland Police Chief Heather Wolfe said just before 9 a.m. on Saturday, a 911 caller reported seeing a woman fall through the ice while attempting to rescue her two dogs who also fell through the ice near the Eagle Point Campground boat landing.
Police officer Mindi Westberg responded and threw a flotation device to the woman to cling to before Cumberland Fire rescue swimmers were able to arrive and pull the woman to safety.
She was taken to the hospital, treated and released. The dogs were also rescued and returned home.
