MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Seven Democratic candidates for governor discuss their health plans and vision for Wisconsin.
“My plan is different from what the other candidates are offering. They’re resting on Medicaid expansion, which is not feasible given the changes that the Trump administration has made right now. My plan will expand access to health care by letting anyone buy in to the state plan, the same insurance that I enjoy as a state employee,” said Madison State Senator Kelda Roys.
“Make sure that we are caring for our care workers, our physicians, that we are limiting the inefficiencies around making it harder to apply for Medicaid. There are efficiencies that we can make in our current systems, and we have to make sure that we are making these investments as quickly as we can,” said Madison State Representative Francesca Hong.
“I don’t think that we need to reinvent the wheel. We already have the BadgerCare infrastructure that is already in place. And so I think it’s about strengthening and expanding people’s ability to actually pay into BadgerCare as a public health option. It is cost effective, allowing us to bring not only federal matching dollars down to the state of Wisconsin, but it provides also flexibility,” said Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley.

The primary election is August 11th.
