GRANTSBURG, Wis. (NWN) — A man is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot, following a disturbance that left a woman injured and a dog dead, police say.
Burnett County Sheriff Tracy Finch said an injured woman called 911 Wednesday morning saying there had been a fight with 26-year-old male acquaintance, and the man had fired a rifle twice in the home during the altercation.
The Sawyer, Washburn and Burnett county ERT was dispatched to the rural Grantsburg residence and attempted to make contact with the man via phone, drones and a robot. By that evening, officers cleared the home, finding a deceased dog and the man, deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Barron County Sheriff’s Department is conducting the investigation. No names were released.
