MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers matched baseball’s modern-era record for the biggest shutout, beating the Seattle Mariners 22-0 on Tuesday night behind three-run homers from Christian Yelich, David Hamilton and Luis Lara and a two-run shot by Jake Bauers. The major league-best Brewers matched a franchise record for runs in a game. Since 1901, the only previous 22-0 shutouts were by Pittsburgh over the Chicago Cubs on Sept. 16, 1975 and by Cleveland over the New York Yankees on Aug. 31, 2004. Kyle Hamilton allowed two hits in five innings, and three relievers followed, with catcher Gary Sánchez working the ninth. The Brewers scored nine times in the eighth against Mariners infielder Leo Rivas.
Dustin May pitches for the Brewers tonight (Wednesday).

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Josh Bell hit a two-run homer, Ryan Jeffers drove in Minnesota’s other two runs, and the Twins beat the Atlanta Braves 4-1. Bell hit his 17th home run of the year over the right-center field wall in the first inning to give the Twins a 2-0 lead. Jeffers added a two-run double in the eighth inning that plated Kaelen Culpepper and Byron Buxton. Zebby Matthews (7-8) tossed 5 2/3 innings for Minnesota, allowing one run on five hits while striking out four. Yoendrys Gómez worked a scoreless ninth for his 19th save of the season. Drake Baldwin hit a homer to account for Atlanta’s run.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Zaire Franklin’s involvement in the first scuffle of Green Bay’s training camp this week came as no surprise to his new Packers teammates. The 30-year-old linebacker earned a reputation for his ability to irritate opponents during his eight seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. Now he’s bringing that personality over to the Packers. Franklin got into a brief skirmish with Packers running back Chris Brooks during a Sunday workout. Green Bay acquired Franklin in a March trade that sent defensive lineman Colby Wooden to Indianapolis. Franklin has an NFL-leading 644 tackles over the past four seasons.
(Green Bay, WI) — Tight end Tucker Kraft scored a touchdown in Tuesday’s practice that was open to Packers fans. That’s the last open practice before the team flies to Denver for Friday’s preseason game. Defensive lineman Lukas Van Ness made several outstanding plays in his first practice back after dealing with a minor injury. And, running back Josh Jacobs took part in a practice for the first time in almost two weeks. Green Bay will hold a closed practice today (Wednesday) before leaving for the Broncos game.
(Milwaukee, WI) — The Bucks have plenty of depth and enough talent to be competitive in most games, but NBA experts don’t see the team making it to the postseason. Yahoo Sports reports that projections now have Milwaukee finishing with a 30-and-52 record. Depending on its final roster makeup, there could be as many as 13 players capable of productive minutes. It is possible the front office will be making more trades still.
(Madison, WI) — The cause of death for former Badgers tight end Jack Pugh has been released. He died four-and-a-half months ago of bronchopneumonia (BRON koh – new MOAN yuh). Pugh played for the Wisconsin football team from 2021 to 2023. He retired for his “mental health” three years ago, telling reporters he wanted to “finally find happiness.”
