MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Universities of Wisconsin System President Jay Rothman has concerns about funding cuts coming from the Trump administration.
Rothman told lawmakers at the Capitol last week that several research fields could be impacted.
“They’re working on Alzheimer’s, they’re working on diabetes, they’re working on cancer, they’re working on agricultural developments that support the great farmers in the state of Wisconsin. They are working on things around fresh water, which I think is probably one of the single biggest assets our state has,” Rothman said.
The UW System is asking for an additional $855 million in Governor Tony Evers’ 2025-27 state budget.
