CUMBERLAND, Wis. (WJMC) — A fire at a Cumberland church has led to the arrest of a 43-year-old man for suspected arson.
Cumberland police said firefighters and emergency responders were called out for a fire alarm at Northern Lakes Community Church, in Cumberland, on the evening of April 1. Firefighters found a small fire in a storage area near a garage door. The fire was extinguished without injury to anyone.
Investigators found accelerant and determined the fire was intentionally set.
Police said 43-year-old Kyle Alfonse was arrested on suspicion of arson and is awaiting formal charges from the Barron County District Attorney’s Office. The incident was under continued investigation.
