MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — In his last State of The State Address Tuesday night, Governor Tony Evers said Republicans have failed to prevent domestic violence.

“I was really disappointed that for all the rhetoric about who cares about crime and who doesn’t care about crime, Republicans voted against my proposal to make the Wisconsin Office of Violence Prevention permanent,” Evers said.

The Governor requested the Legislature to make that office permanent, and also fully fund Victim of Crime Act programs.

Evers also said Republicans need to fully fund school districts if they want to prevent local property tax increases by way of school tax referendums.

Evers also said he’ll continue working to bring tax relief to the middle class, and will call for the legislature to pass a constitutional amendment to ban partisan gerrymandering in the state’s election maps.
