MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Wisconsin Emergency Management wants to make sure you know what to do in the event of severe weather.

Public Information Officer Katie Rousonelos says you should have an emergency plan in place.

“Think about what you need to do and what your family needs to do when there is that severe weather. Where do you go and what will you do to protect yourself? Think about those safe spots in survey buildings nearby where you work, study, and play. Also think about, okay, how are we going to communicate to each other,” Rousonelos said.

This week marks Severe Weather Awareness Week.

A statewide tornado drill is set for Thursday at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. The drill will be heard on weather radios, broadcast media and some outdoor weather sirens.
