MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — At the Capitol on last week, Universities of Wisconsin System Regents told their side of the story following the firing of President Jay Rothman.

Called on short notice to appear before a state Senate committee, Regent President Amy Bogost took issue with what Rothman’s done

“To do the media circuit that he’s on, denigrates our wonderful universities. And that makes me really sad, because I know that he worked tirelessly for the universities,” Bogost said.

Rothman has been unwilling to make much needed changes, according to Bogost and Regent Timothy Nixon of Green Bay.

“We just didn’t see eye to eye on the speed with which you could move and any of the topics you could in fact move on. He didn’t want to upset the apple (cart). Quite frankly, I think the apple cart needs some upsetting,” Nixon said.

Committee chair, Senator Rob Hutton, said he was dismayed that Bogost and Nixon were unable to provide any documentation on the performance reviews that led to Rothman’s termination.
