CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WJMC) — A person was killed in an officer-involved shooting Thursday morning in Chippewa Falls.
The Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation says just before 11 a.m. on Thursday, police officers were called to a hotel in the 1000 block of West Park Avenue for a report of wanted subjects at that address. When police arrived, one person fled on foot, and an officer gave chase.
During the foot pursuit, police said the person brandished what they believed to be a handgun and then jumped over a patio railing. The officer fired their weapon and struck the subject. EMS was paged and lifesaving measures were attempted but the person died at the scene.
No other people or officers were injured. There was no word if a weapon was recovered at the scene.
Police told news media there was one person in custody and the investigation was ongoing.
