RICE LAKE, Wis. (WJMC) — A Rice Lake man is accused of repeatedly sexual assaulting of a juvenile family member.
On Monday in Barron County Circuit Court, 35-year-old Jonathan T. Scheel was charged with felonies repeated sexual assault of a child and exposing a child to sexually explicit content.
According to court documents, family members reported to police the young victim, under 13, told them Scheel had touched them in inappropriate ways against their wishes. In an interview with a Rice Lake Police investigator last week, the victim said Scheel sexually assaulted them multiple times and showed them sexually explicit videos.
The incidents happened during movie nights at his residence over the last four months. The victim told Scheel to stop or pushed him away, but he would start up again a short time later. Scheel allegedly told the victim to not tell anyone because he could get into trouble.
Scheel was arrested on Friday, appeared in court on Monday and was released on a $2,500 cash bond with conditions to have no contact with the victim or their residence, some family members and most minor children. A court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
