GREEN BAY, Wis. (WJMC) — The Rice Lake Warrior Girls are at State.

The No. 1 seeded Warriors play No. 4 Beaver Dam this afternoon in the first of two semi finals.

Rice Lake Senior, Adaline Sheplee, spoke to WJMC’s Dave Tindell about their return to state.

“The focus just like it has been all season is going to be on us. We want to play our game and play fast and most importantly have fun. Just to be here is a great opportunity but you know we can all tell it’s different,” Sheplee said.
“Last year, we were really excited to be here but this year that’s not enough for us. We want to come home with something.”

Sheplee, a four-year-starter for Rice Lake, was nominated and was a finalist for the Ms. Basketball award, along with four other seniors from across the state. The Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association awarded the title to Natalie Kussow, of Hartland Arrowhead.

Sheplee was named Player of the Year for the second straight year in the Big River Conference. She will attend and play for UW-Madison next year.

The Warriors play Beaver Dam today at 1:30 p.m. in Green Bay. The game broadcast starts at 12:45 p.m. on WJMC 96.1 FM, with Dave Tindell.
