(Houston, TX) — A two-run homer in the fourth inning was all the offensive support Jacob Misioroski needed in Sunday’s 2-0 shutout victory over the Houston Astros. Jake Bauers connected with a man on base. Misioroski continued his brilliant pitching in May by throwing seven innings without giving up a run. He allowed just one earned run in the month, good for an ERA of 0-point-23. Shane Drohan gets the start tonight (Monday) as the San Francisco Giants visit American Family Field.
Pregame at 6:05pm. First pitch at 6:40pm on AM1240 & 96.5FM
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Braxton Ashcraft struck out 11 in six innings, Ryan O’Hearn and Nick Gonzales homered, and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the skidding Minnesota Twins 9-3 to complete a three-game sweep. Ashcraft allowed two runs and five hits with no walks, sending the Twins to their fifth straight defeat. Brooks Lee had a two-run homer in the sixth and a solo shot in the ninth for Minnesota. O’Hearn returned from the injured list and hit a leadoff homer in the second his first time up. Jared Triolo singled in Oneil Cruz to make it 2-0. Gonzales’ two-run homer in the third extended the margin to 4-0, and Henry Davis had a two-run single in a five-run fifth.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have put right-hander Bailey Ober on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation. The Twins announced the move Sunday. Ober is 6-3 with a 4.59 ERA in 66 2/3 innings this season. He allowed seven earned runs and 12 hits in 4 2/3 innings in Saturday’s loss at Pittsburgh. Minnesota’s pitching injuries have been an issue. Pablo López is out for the season following elbow surgery, and Mick Abel went on the IL in April with right elbow inflammation.
(Madison, WI) — The University of Wisconsin athletics department has hired former NFL executive Morocco Brown to be its general manager. Brown spent eight years with the Indianapolis Colts before working as a consultant for the last two years. Football Scoop-dot-com reports that he was a candidate for at least a half-dozen NFL positions over the last few years. Marcus Sedberry was the department’s last general manager. He is currently the interim athletics director at UW.
(Green Bay, WI) — The official 2026 NFL preseason schedule for the Green Bay Packers has been released. Starting August 13th in Pittsburgh against the Steelers, all three games are night contests. Former Packers Aaron Rodgers and coach Mike McCarthy will be waiting there. Then, August 21st will be a game in Denver against the Broncos. The third preseason game brings the Arizona Cardinals to Lambeau Field August 28th. The Cardinals’ new head coach is Mike LaFleur, the brother of Green Bay’s field leader Matt LaFleur.
(Madison, WI) — Former Badgers basketball standout Sam Dekker will be inducted into the UW Athletic Hall of Fame. The announcement was made by Wisconsin athletics director Marcus Sedberry. The Badgers made it to the Final Four twice with Dekker in the lineup. He joins 11 others in the Hall of Fame class of 2026.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Russell Henley birdied the final three holes to force a playoff with Eric Cole, then made it four it a row with a 5-footer on the first extra hole Sunday at Colonial to win the Charles Schwab Classic. Henley’s late surge denied fellow 37-year-old Cole his first PGA Tour win. Henley earned $1.78 million for his sixth PGA Tour title. Playing in the group ahead of Cole, Henley closed with a 3-under 67. After making 15-foot putts on 16 and 17, he got to 12 under with a 17-footer on 18. Cole parred the final seven holes — eight counting the playoff — in a 70.
LEBANON, Tenn. (AP) — Denny Hamlin outraced Christopher Bell over the final four laps after a final restart Sunday night to win the Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway. Hamlin won for the second time this year and 62nd of his career on a night where he jumped the start off the pole. That penalty put him at the back of the field. The 45-year-old Hamlin raced his way to the front for the thrilling win that had his Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Bell and Chase Briscoe making it three-wide before Hamlin took the lead down the backstretch to win by 0.115 seconds. The race started 80 minutes late after rain delayed NASCAR’s Cup Series for a second straight week.

Rice Lake WI – St. CroixCasino in Turtle Lake presented the racing program Saturday night at the Rice Lake Speedway and the racing program proved to be a gamble for some as the drivers laid it on the line with some of the finishes almost too close to call. Two feature races were decided by less than two tenths of a second while three drivers also visited victory lane for the first time in 2026, all in a program that was completed before 9 pm.
Ryan Olson, Matt Leer and Parker Anderson were all first time features winners for the season while on the other end of the spectrum, Simon Wahlstrom increased his win total to the highest of all drivers so far, with Nick Koehler also a winner and remaining very close to Wahlstrom’s success rate.
Leer led all twenty laps of the Modified feature race, an event that went green to checkers but an early lead that he had built up got very narrow by the end of the race with Mike Anderson very nearly stealing it away on the final laps.
Leer took the early advantage with Kennedy Swan, last week’s winner moving into the second spot. Anderson and Blake Adams moved into position behind the front duo as the top four marched away from the field. Adams and Anderson had quite the battle for third with several slide jobs thrown back and forth but the running order remained the same through the halway point of the race.
That’s when Anderson began to pick up the pace as he adjusted his line around the track slightly and it paid dividends as he was able to drive under Swan for second and then began to close on the leader. In the last five laps, Anderson made a couple strong challenges for the lead, dropping to the inside of Leer but not quite able to clear him. His best run was stiffled by a lapped car that blocked his line into turn three and he had to readjust his line.
He made one last strong attack on the final lap and again dipped to the inside of Leer but Matt got enough run off the turn that he was able to nip Anderson by about a half car length with the exact margin of victory being .195 seconds.
Adams was also able to pass Swan for third with Austin Ellis getting a solid top five run. All starters in the race were able to complete the distance.
For Leer it was his tenth career Modified feature win at Rice Lake but his first since the 2017 racing season and first of 2026 at the track.
Ryan Olson is in his third year of racing in the Super Stock class and has been close to gaining his first victory but has always come up just short until Saturday night. And while he did earn the win, it was probably not in exactly the fashion that he would have liked as he gained the victory at the expense of another driver that actually crossed the line first but failed post race inspection.
Alex Myers was the driver that had the bad luck befall himself as he led all twenty laps of the Super Stock main, only to not pass muster in the post race examination.
Myers rode the cushion expertly for the whole race which was stopped just once only three laps into the contest with the final large portion of the race going green to checkers. Myers opened up a lead on the field and was not really challenged over the course of the event.
Meanwhile, Olson and Jeff Eisner Jr were having a great battle for second and they literally raced side by side for the entire contest. One would edge ahead and then the other would come back and they spent the vast majority of the race side by side. In fact, after Myers crossed the line, Olson edged out Eisner Jr for second by the razor thin time of .019 seconds, which would then become the winning margin when Myers failed post race inspection.
Ryan’s father Eric also had a solid run as he finished third after a race long battle with Leslie Leu while Bart Steffen completed the top five.
Parker Anderson was the third driver to claim his first feature win of the season at the track. He started on the pole and led all twenty laps but he was challenged as this race was stopped several times for the yellow flag and each time Anderson would have to take off strong to keep the challengers behind him.
For the first half of the race, it was the duo of Cole and Danny Richards that pushed him as they swapped the second spot while keeping Anderson within range for a pass.
Guest driving one of the Herrman Farms entries was Nick Traynor and he was wheeling that car in an aggressive fashion, going higher on the track than anyone and pushing the banking up as far as he could go. Eventually that line began to work and he was able to get past both the Richards and move into second when a late yellow with just two laps to go bunched the field one last time.
He gave it a shot, but Anderson held his line and drove on for the win with Traynor a close second. There was considerable shuffling of the pack behind the two leaders with Cole Richards holding on for third with Hunter VanGilder and Canadian driver Kyle Bolt completing the top five.
Nick Koehler won his third Midwest Modified feature of the season as the Bloomer driver held off some late race attacks from Blake Adams to take the win. Koehler used the cushion to grab the early lead over Travis Anderson and Joe Swearingen. Adams started sixth and began to move forward, picking off drivers one by one as Koehler continued to show the way.
By the halfway point of the race, Adams was up to second and driving hard as he tried to catch the leader. Two yellows helped him out with the last one coming with just two laps remaining.
Things got very interesting as Adams twice threw sliders at Koehler, both times clearing him for the lead but then each time Koehler would cross him back over and regain the top spot. Nick was not to be denied as he drove home for the win. Anderson finished a solid third with Brady Larson coming from tenth to fourth and Jason Vokovan completing the top five.
Simon Wahlstrom continued his strong start in the Pure Stock division as he won a track best fourth feature win so far, leading all laps and holding off the challenges of George Richards to claim the win. Early on, Simon had to hold off his brother Tyler and father Bob to lead the race as they lined up right by him. However, Richards, who started fifth, would move up a lane on the track and was successful in driving past both of them to take over second.
Simon was strong up front though and while Richards pushed hard, he wasn’t successful in cutting into the lead that Simon carried as he drove home with a fairly comfortable winning margin. Late in the going, Tyler was able to edge past his father to claim third with last week’s winner C.J. Wagner completing the top five.
Next Saturday night, June 6th, the Rice Lake Speedway will present another first for the track as for the very first time in track history, the Legend Cars will be on hand to put on a full program. Along with the five class WISSOTA program that is presented each week, the Rolling Thunder Dirt Legends will be on hand at the track, running under official INEX rules. These cars that run on both dirt and asphalt tracks are very popular in parts of the country and are expected to bring a full field of competitors to show spectators what their form of racing is all about. There will be no increase in admission price for this event and as always, the first green flag drops at 6 pm.
