MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — The Wisconsin State Senate has announced a special committee on Oversight of the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

Attorney General Josh Kaul calls that an obvious partisan stunt.

“At a time when there are critically important issues for the legislature to be focusing on, whether it’s protecting access to safe and clean drinking water, to working to address internet crimes against children, to putting in place some common sense gun safety laws instead of working on those critical issues, our legislature is engaging in a stunt like this. It’s disappointing to see,” Kaul said.

Republican Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu says the committee will ensure the DOJ is operating within its authority and serving public interest, not the agendas of outside organizations.
