MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Madison Democratic state Senator Kelda Roys enters the race for governor, joining a growing field of Democrats that includes Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez and Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley.

“No matter who you are or where you’re from, you deserve the freedom to thrive right now. The best public schools for every child, quality, affordable healthcare for every Wisconsinite. Good jobs that don’t just pay the bills, but help you build the future you want,” Roys said in a campaign announcement.

She announced her candidacy Monday morning.

Republican candidates include Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann and Milwaukee area business owner Bill Berrien.

Roys ran in the 2018 Democratic primary which was won by governor Tony Evers. Evers is not seeking a third term.
