MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Assembly Speaker Robin Vos remains confident in security arrangements at the Capitol in Madison.

The Republican leader commented following last week’s assassination of activist Charlie Kirk.

“We already have a good police force here. We already have a building that’s quite secure from the way that they handle it, so I feel confident with where we are,” Vos said.

While noting most political violence has occurred at locations other than government buildings, Vos did not mention the January 6, 2021 attack on and inside the U.S. Capitol.

Other than a brief period following the 9/11 attacks, the public has always had unrestricted access to the Capitol.
