WAUSAU, Wis. (WRN) — Candidate for Governor Tom Tiffany says victory in next year’s race will come at a price.
Tiffany told the media outside his rally in Wausau on Wednesday that his fundraising efforts started the minute he announced.
“We know this is going to be a very expensive race. I’m figuring we got to raise 30 to $40 million,” Tiffany said.
Tiffany said he may disclose some initial fundraising numbers in the next few weeks in Wausau.
Tiffany is the presumed Republican frontrunner. Milwaukee-area businessman Bill Berrian dropped out, leaving Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann the only other candidate.
Numerous Democrats are in the race to succeed Democratic Governor Tony Evers, who is not seeking a third term. Partisan primaries are next August.
