EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WJMC) — A Chetek woman has been sentenced to more than a year in state prison for her involvement in a fatal shooting in Eau Claire County.

On Tuesday, 27-year-old Vanessa Ketteman was sentenced to 14 months in state prison, along with 5 years and three months of extended supervision and a fine.

In a plea deal with prosecutors, Ketteman pleaded guilty to felony murder with false imprisonment, related to the June 2022 fatal shooting of 46-year-old Eddie Banks, of Eau Claire.

Reports allege Ketteman, and her codefendants, 40-year-old Philip Novak, of Milwaukee, and 42-year-old Kristina Keppert, of Caddott, lured Banks to their truck after he did not deliver 500 dollars in drugs. Novak hid in the truck with a gun, and during the encounter Banks was shot and killed. His body was later dumped in a roadside ditch.

For their involvement in the shooting, Novak was serving 20 and a half years in prison with extended supervision and Keppert was serving seven and a half years in prison with extended supervision.
