MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — The Wisconsin state Senate was on the floor Tuesday.

Minority Leader Dianne Hesselbein says Republicans have failed to address the needs of families, with the chamber meeting for the first time in three months, and infrequently.

“What we’re doing today is not enough being in time, being in seven times this year is not enough,” Hesselbein said.

Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu says Democrats are “losing on the issues” and “critique process and complain about things.”

“We’re going to meet in November, we’re going to meet in January. We’re going to meet in February. We’re going to meet in March and we’re going to get a lot of more good bills done,” LeMahieu said.

Legislation approved in the Senate and now headed to Governor Tony Evers includes bills to allow candidates to remove their names from the ballot and require Wisconsin public schools adopt policies banning use of cellphones during instructional time.
